Purpose: The increasing trend of divorce and its subsequent damages in the society is worrying. The purpose of this research was to investigate the role of family counseling centers in preventing divorce and social damage with emphasis on the family protection law.
Methodology: This research was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of data collection method. The statistical population of the research includes 245 people from 20 family counseling centers, of which 60 people were selected through the Cochran formula as the statistical sample of the research by simple random sampling. In order to collect literature and theoretical foundations, the method of library studies was used, and in order to collect data, the field method and researcher-made questionnaire were used. Face validity was used to confirm the validity of the examining Cronbach's alpha coefficients of %70 . In order to analyze the data and test the research hypotheses, parametric and non-parametric tests were used with the help of SPSS software.
Findings: The results showed that family counseling centers have a positive and significant effect in preventing divorce and social damage.
Conclusion: Therefore, Necessary planning for proper implementation of family protection law and strengthening of family counseling centers seems necessary.
